Perur Patteeshwarar Temple
It is also known as Melchidambaram. Here at perur Lord Sri Patteeshwara is known to confer the boon, of liberation from the cycle of birth and death, on the devotees who surrender to him. This temple is built by the king karikala choran, is situated 7 kms west of Coimbatore near river Noyyal (Earlier it was called as Kanchimanadhi). It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The presiding deity of the temple is known as patteeshwarar and his Consort, Pachai Nayaki.
Teppakulam:
In front of the temple there is a Teppakulam. This Teppakulam is a fine piece of symmetrical steps with 16 angles and 8 corners. The Teppakulam fetching water is an advantage which passes through the fields. But nor this passage and the area are dry, because now a day's water is irrigated with the help of motor facility.
The Teppakulam was erected was during the period of 15th century by Vijayanagara Empire. This is constructed by one Madhayan the son of Sankarayan.
