The Nilgiri Biosphere Nature Park (NBNP)is an initiative of the Coimbatore Zoological Park society (CZPS). The society aims to introduce people of all ages to the rich and varied species that occur in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve (NBR). The park is located at Thuvaipathi, Anaikatti, 32 km from Coimbatore.
The first phase 70 acres has been developed as Nature park. Visitors can see some of the myriad living organisms of NBR, including rare medicinal and other native plants and indigenous small animals.
NBNP features a host of facilities aimed at providing a holistic experience to visitors. Apart from the nature trek which will expose visitors to species indigenous to Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, the park also features recreational facilities providing an opportunity to relax in natural forest surroundings.
The adventure in the park starts with a trek that connects with nature where you will see many native trees and plants , a display of invertebrates and exhibits in "learning huts" that feature biodiversity, climate change and medicinal plants.
The park also displays many endemic plants of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve , which will enrich visitors' knowledge of the biodiversity of NBR.
