Yelagiri
I have read an article about Yelagiri
hills in THE HINDU. It’s around 150 km
from Bangalore. So I have planned with my friend to visit this place on a
weekend. We have started 6.30 in the morning from electronic city. The journey is superb on the bike. First we
reached Hosur. From there we have gone to Krishnagiri. The journey from Hosur
to Krishnagiri is superb. You will find so many small hills on the way. From there we have gone to Yelagiri Hills.
Before you reach yelagiri only you see the hills from kilometers distance away.
There is a toll gate before you enter the ghat road to the yelagiri hills. The distance is around 14 km from down to top of the hills. There are 14 hairpin bends totally. Each bend has named after Tamil poets. But those names are in Tamil. Better if they could have written in English also.
The ghat road drive is perhaps the most exciting part of the trip. On the way to the hills you can smell the herbs and soil. There is nothing much you can see on the hills but you relax and enjoy your weekend there.
We came down to the hills and from there we have been to Jalagamparai Waterfalls. It is around 30 km from down the hills. From there we have to go first Tirupattur and from there Jalagamparai. The 14 km journey from Tirupattur to Jalagamparai is Extraordinary. Both the sides on the road you find agricultural lands, banana trees and coconut trees and the most important thing is the real village life. We feel sure that how much we are missing village life.
